Welcome to the Division of Finance and Resource Planning
The Division performs a range of business functions to facilitate the ongoing financial viability of the University in realising QUT's strategic aims and objectives. As part of this framework, the Division will endeavour, where appropriate, to drive the application of world class benchmarks to our financial governance responsibilities while maintaining a customer centric approach when engaging with the University community, industry and government.
The Division is comprised of five key departments: Corporate Finance, Decision Support, Financial Resource Systems, Planning and Quality, and Kelvin Grove Urban Village Project.
Corporate Finance (Acting - Darryl Crawford, Robyn Pooley & Tracey Hodgkin)
Corporate Finance is responsible for the day to day accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, integrity of the general ledger, and statutory financial reporting. Corporate Finance will assist with procurement, FBT, GST, and strategic financing issues that may arise.
Decision Support (Acting - Justine Borlase)
Decision Support is a new team bringing together the analytical skills of Strategic Information & Analysis (SIA) and the Budget Management Unit providing a one stop shop for your information needs with respect to key corporate performance data including load, revenue and cost data. This team will provide support around load management, the budget and forecasting processes as well as the development of business cases. The team can also assist with post implementation reviews for projects. The Decision Support team are also responsible for Compliance reporting to the Commonwealth and a number of key reports to VCAC and Council.
Key projects include replacing QUT's budget system (existing system no longer supported); development of management reporting and supporting the BI project).
Financial Resource Systems (Wayne McCullough)
The Financial Resource Systems team has been created by combining IT resources within FRP that previously sat within Financial Resources Services and SIA. The IT team provide support to other teams within FRP to ensure we keep our core services running. This team look after all the core applications under the stewardship of FRP including Oracle, IPM, QCR and Payroll. The team has been structured to include a business intelligence competency centre to extract further value from the QCR data warehouse. There are a number of large IT projects involving either finance systems or processes - this team provides the FRP based support and project management resources for these projects.
Key Projects beyond the ones listed elsewhere include Oracle eBusiness Upgrade, Revenue Management Phase 2 and Business Objects - Dashboard and Performance Analytics implementation development of BI platform to support management reporting; IPM upgrades.
Planning and Quality (Patricia Alner)
This team is responsible for managing a number of key business processes on behalf of the University. The team also provides support across these key strategic QUT processes including Planning, coordination of AUQA related activities, University Survey co-ordination, corporate reviews and the BSI project. This team also manages the quarterly KPI reporting as part of the corporate performance reporting to VCAC and Council.
Key projects include corporate reviews of DAS and TILS; development of LEX data mining capabilities; Site Master Planning (in conjunction with FM), AUQA readiness preparation, BSI Student Services Review and Academic Summary Project.
Kelvin Grove Urban Village Project (Kaye Petherick)
This team's role and structure is unchanged from the 2007 structure. Kelvin Grove Urban Village are currently managing a number of high profile projects relating to the Kelvin Grove Urban Village (KGUV) redevelopment.
Key projects include stage two of CI; 44 Musk Avenue; assessing the utilisation of the remaining lots; mainstreaming some of the functions and activities undertaken by the project team.
