Student Financials Process Review ProjectStudent revenue comprises almost half of the University’s total revenue, and as a result, Student-related business processes (and the Student System) involve significant interaction with the University’s financial, statistical and planning processes and systems (in particular, Oracle Financials and QCR). As such, the implementation of the new Student and Academic Management System (SAMS), and the resulting change to the processes undertaken within the Student System, significantly impacts the activities undertaken by FRP, requiring FRP to similarly re-develop its business processes and systems interfaces. [Note: QUT Access username required.] Value Financials ProjectValue Financials is a financial reporting tool supported by PriceWaterhouseCoopers. It produces financial reports that are compliant with DEEWR reporting requirements as well as Australian Accounting Standards. The project will map the current system of GL accounts and customise the application to suit QUT in order to produce the 2009 Financial Reports from Value Financials. The package will streamline the financial reporting process by reducing re-work, re-checking and rounding variances. Our involvement can include leading and managing the Centre or contributing cash and in-kind support. Some of these ventures may result in commercially valuable products in which QUT has a share due to the extent of our contribution or the issuing of shares in the CRC. This project will examine the nature of our relationship with the CRCs to ensure that the correct accounting treatment is applied to the variety of transactions with the CRC and any value held by the university is recognised in QUT's financial accounts.
